The Solid Waste Management Department offers the following additional services.

Collection of Leaves	San Antonio residents receiving garbage and recycling services from the city may request two collections for leaves per year free of charge. The city will only pick up leaves placed in biodegradable paper lawn and leaf bags or cardboard boxes and will no longer pick up leaves placed in plastic bags. Learn more>>

Dead Animal Pickup	The city will collect dead animals from residences and on city streets. City personnel cannot collect dead animals from attics, ditches, under buildings, or on private property. The service is available seven days a week. To arrange for this service, call 3-1-1. Curbside Service: On request, dead animals will be collected. The animal must be bagged and placed at the curb before calling for collection. Commercial: Available to veterinary clinics at an added cost of $10.00 per animal. The veterinary clinic should purchase dead animal tags in advance and then contact the city to schedule a collection.

Hauler Permits	Commercial or industrial haulers may not operate a solid waste vehicle without a permit. All vehicles used for the collection or disposing of solid waste within San Antonio’s city limits must have a valid permit. Vehicles used exclusively for transporting recyclable materials to recycling facilities are not required to pay the vehicle permit fee. Learn More>>
