Music Classes

Calling all music lovers, young and old. If you’ve always wanted to learn to play the drums or the guitar, or maybe your dream was the keyboard, now is your opportunity to sign up for classes in drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and sax. Take Note Band

If you have a desire to make a career as a professional musician or singer we want to help you get started. Each year the Music Section of the Parks and Recreation Department auditions aspiring male and female vocalists, keyboardists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, percussionists and saxophonists for the City's very own youth band, TAKE NOTE. Submit an audition DVD or CD by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.

The DVD or CD should show you performing on your instrument or demonstrating your singing ability and stage presence. Additionally, please submit a letter explaining how you will add to and benefit from participation in the band. The next step for those selected will be a live audition. Those chosen from the live audition to be members of Take Note will be introduced to the concepts needed to perform a variety of styles of music such as pop, rock, jazz and blues in preparation for live performances at major venues.
