Erik Walsh was appointed to Deputy City Manager in October 2011. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Walsh was promoted to Assistant City Manager in February 2006. He oversees the San Antonio Fire Department, the San Antonio Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management, and Animal Care Services. Mr. Walsh is also responsible for negotiating the collective bargaining agreements with the San Antonio Police Officers Association and the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association.
Mr. Walsh has 17 years of municipal government experience with the City of San Antonio. He has overseen the Solid Waste Management Department, the Office of Management and Budget, the Intergovernmental Relations Office, Asset Management, Purchasing and General Services and the City Council agenda process.
Mr. Walsh also has held the positions of Assistant to the City Manager and Special Projects Manager in the City Manager’s Office and several positions in the Office of Management and Budget.
