Reed Williams began his 33 year career in petroleum refining and marketing in San Antonio in 1973 with Tesoro Petroleum Corporation. Reed was employed by Tesoro for nineteen years where he held numerous management positions of increasing responsibility. Reed's last position with Tesoro was Group Vice President of Refining, Marketing and Supply.

Reed joined Diamond Shamrock in 1993 where he held various positions in the areas of corporate development, operation planning, pipeline operations, and product supply and distribution.

In 2000, Reed moved to Denver Colorado to assume the top commercial position for Frontier Oil Corporation as Executive Vice President, Refining and Marketing.

Reed retired from Frontier Oil Corporation in 2006 and returned to San Antonio in 2007.

Military Service:

  • Reed was commissioned as a distinguished military graduate from the ROTC program at the University of Texas at Austin in May 1971. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve for eight years and was honorably discharged holding the rank of Captain in May of 1979.

Education:

  • Graduated from Gatesville High School in 1965 in top 10% of class. High school activities include President of Senior Class and captain of football team.
  • Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • From 1969 to 1972 completed 87 hours of graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin Graduate Business School.
  • Extracurricular activities and scholastic honors during college included the following:

Reed has been married to Joan Williams for 24 years and he and Joan have two children, Carter and Kate. And, one dog named Tess!
