The Planning and Resource Section, commanded
by Captain Steve Barrera, consists of the Resource
Management Unit and the Research and Planning Unit.
|
The Research & Planning Unit
is responsible
for researching, evaluating, and developing long range
goals for the department. Within this Unit are the
Information Systems Office, and the
GIS Office (Geographic Information Systems, or the SAMS
Office [Strategic Analysis and Mapping]), which conducts
crime and mapping analysis and produces the weekly MAP (Management
Accountability Program) meetings.

The Resource Management Unit, directed
by Lt. Gus Guzman, includes the offices
that coordinate all personnel and financial issues for the
department, oversee
the department's vehicle fleet, and maintain the department's
computer assets. The Resource Management Unit
includes the following details and offices:
- Accounting and Personnel Office
- Human Resources Office
- Facilities Management Detail
- Fleet Management Detail
- Security Systems Office
- Print Shop
The Planning and Resources Section also produces the
SAPD Internet and Intranet web pages.
